Excerpt: “NEC-SE further asks: what is the plan for these indigenous peoples who have, over the last 14 years, experienced an almost 90 percent decline in population under the governance of Shia Arabs and Sunni Muslim Kurds? If their eradication is not the goal, then when will Iraq give Assyrian Christians and Yazidis their own self-governing federated states, as stipulated in Article 119 of the Iraqi constitution? The existence of such states is in keeping with the accepted ideal of a federal Iraq, and NEC-SC believes it is high time for the Iraqi government to follow its own constitution and see to their immediate formation.”
